Yaaganti Seeds Private Limited was established in 1996 in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India, by Mr. Yaganti Venkateswarlu, a graduate in Agricultural Science and his wife Mrs Y. Aparna. Prior to launching this company the Promoters ran Hybrid seed business under the brand name of "Laxmi seeds" which the Promoters retained due to sentimental and devotional attachment. Due to the single-minded focus on developing Corn Hybrid seeds the company became the sixth largest Corn Hybrid Seed Marketer in India by 2003. The company's brand name "Laxmi Seeds" is registered with the Trade Marks Registry, Mumbai, with effect from 2001. The total volume of the Hybrid seeds produced from the company's parent seed is of 13,500 MT (considering the parent seed sales for 10,000 Acres) and stands among the top three Corn Hybrid Seed sources in India |

The company has R & D centre at Hyderabad spread over 16 hectares where in 20 Qualified & Experienced Breeders and Assistants work relentlessly under the guidance of Mr M. N. V. Ratnaji Rao & Dr Sonti Venkateswarlu. The company has Germplasm Bank with about 1,000 lines in Corn, 100 lines in Sunflower, 250 lines in Millet and about 500 lines in vegetables like Okra Chilly, Tomato & Watermelon. The company is in the process of establishing Bio-Technology Lab for developing new hybrids through Marker Assisted Selections/Marker Aided Breding |
